The Tri-Cities Branch of the Associated General Contractors of Tennessee announced winners of the 24th annual Tri-Cities AGC Excellence Awards.  These awards are given to companies and individuals who have earned the respect of their peers for their skills, professionalism and integrity. The awards were presented on March 22, 2016 at the Johnson City, Tennessee Country Club.  The Wise Inn Renovations and Addition project was awarded first place in Division II of the Project of the Year Award category.  This project was designed by Thompson & Litton of Wise, Virginia, and constructed by General Contractors, Quesenberry’s, Inc., of Big Stone Gap, Virginia.

Thompson & Litton was retained by the Wise County Industrial Development Authority in 2009 to provide Architectural & Engineering design and construction contract administration services for the renovation, restoration, and expansion of the historic inn located on Main Street in Wise, Virginia. The project work was performed with funding provided by the Virginia Coalfield Economic Development Authority (VCEDA), the Virginia Tobacco Commission, and Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development (VHCD).

The Inn at Wise (Inn), originally constructed in 1910, as the Colonial Inn, had operated and successfully served the community up until the last 20 years when it fell into disrepair.  The newly expanded and renovated facility, which encompasses the entire block, can now boast having 49 guest rooms and 45,165 gsf.  The original structure now has 21 rooms with the new addition featuring the other 28 rooms.  The Wise Inn officially re-opened in March 2015.  For additional information about the re-opening, visit http://www.t-l.com/?p=8039.
