  • Multi-office E/A firm with an established practice, which includes both public and private sector clientele, is currently seeking a Civil Engineer. We are seeking self-motivated, self-starters, who are eager to work in a collaborative environment to help solve our clients’ problems. The position is open in our Bristol, Tennessee, Princeton, West Virginia, or in Radford or Wise, Virginia offices. The ideal candidate would have 4 to 10 plus years of experience, preferably a Licensed Professional Engineer or eligible to sit for the exam, with a civil or environmental engineering education/background, and experience in utilities and treatment plant design. The depth and type of your experience, professional goals, and skills, may interest us as much, or more, as your years of experience. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Review of municipal and applicable local, state, and federal agency regulations to determine design parameters. • Be familiar with agency procedures and regulations pertaining to municipal water and wastewater systems. • Performs site visits, research and due diligence on projects as required to provide the background information to start a new project. • Development of conceptual layouts based on clients’ objectives and results of due diligence work. • Manage, plan, and provide design and or design oversight of water/wastewater line and plant projects. • Performs supporting calculations to demonstrate designs meet all applicable local, state and federal regulations. • Preparation of Technical Specifications. • Preparation of Construction Cost Estimates. • QA/QC of own designs and designs completed by others. • Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions. • Responsible for organizing all aspects of submittals and deliverables. • Monitors own work and that of project team to ensure budgets and schedules are being met. • As level of experience progresses, may be asked to train less experienced team members in day-to day-activities including routine technical design, processing, and company procedures. Minimum Requirements • BS in Civil Engineering or related field. • Strong verbal communication and writing skills. • Strong Proficiency in WaterCad and AutoCAD Civil 3D. • PE registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to become licensed within six to 12 months. • US Citizen Preferred Qualifications · Experience in the design of water distribution or sewerage collection systems. · Experience in the design of water/wastewater treatment plants. He is set to embark on his next greatest adventure on March 19, 2024.  As the founder of T&L’s current architectural practice, Thompson has been a crucial member of our team. T&L Excited To View Fully Operational KEECO Facility Following Lengthy Partnership

Thompson & Litton partnered with Skyrem, LLC in July 2021 to provide Surveying, Architectural, and Engineering services associated with the KEECO Manufacturing Facility Expansion project in Henry County, Virginia. Following recent acquisitions and consolidation, KEECO has become the world’s largest pillow manufacturer. The existing Henry County facility needed to double in size to increase shipping and receiving areas and additional warehouse space. The project consisted of two distinct construction packages, one for the overall land development and the other the upfit of a tilt-up concrete wall superstructure of 244,000 S.F. T&L’s scope of services included survey and subsurface engineering, design, permitting, preparation of bid documents, assistance with procurement, and construction contract administration. The site construction was completed by Steve Martin’s Trenching, Inc. of Martinsville, VA and the Warehouse up-fit by Blair Construction of Gretna, VA. Soon after Substantial Completion was attained in August 2023, it didn’t take KEECO long to get the warehouse filled up. The big bundles seen in the footage are compressed filling for the various style pillows ranging in weight between 250 and 800 lbs.

Resident Project Representative (RPR) – Princeton

THOMPSON & LITTON, a multi-disciplined firm with an established practice, which includes both public and private sector clientele, has an opening for a Resident Project Representative in Princeton, West Virginia. This position could expect to be assigned to various public water line and gravity sewer line projects as well as water and sewerage treatment plant projects. Minimum requirements are a High School Diploma and some field related experience. The ideal candidate will have a construction or engineering background/education with 5-10 years of experience, preferably in waterline extensions and water treatment plant construction. This is a full-time position with a wage of $20 to $25/hour depending on experience. New hires can expect an attractive benefits package, 10 paid holidays, 2-weeks vacation, and per diem travel expense reimbursement. Responsibilities:
  • Site observation to ensure the Work progresses in accordance with the Contract Documents
  • Record keeping – maintains a daily logbook and/or daily reports of all activities occurring at the project site
  • Provide progress reports
  • Review Contractor pay requests and progress schedules
  • Prepares and maintains Record Drawings of construction installations and deviations from plans
  • Review equipment operation and material on job site
  • Interprets specifications as related to materials and workmanship
  • Observe and document construction and testing activities
  • Assist the A/E with substantial completion and final completion inspections
  • An RPR is the A/E’s agent at the project site, and will act as directed by and under the supervision of the A/E
