Contract I: Work at three (3) tanks include Airport Tank Rehabilitation, Airport Tank mixing system, Farmer Street Tank Rehabilitation, Farmer Street Tank mixing system, Downtown Tank cleaning, and Downtown Tank mixing system.

Contract II: Work at pump stations including the Brickyard Pump Station Rehabilitation and the East End Pump Station Rehabilitation.

Contract III: Work at the water treatment plant (WTP) including the replacement of the filter media and underdrains, filter gallery valves and actuators, sedimentation basin sludge removal system and sedimentation basin crack repair, reduced pressure zone device RPZ relocation, turbo meter in vault for drain line, and the installation of a new shelter and electric hoist at the raw water intake.

Contract IV: 1,000 linear feet of 10-inch water line (C151 Class 350 DIP), 1,300 linear feet of 6-inch water line (C900 DR14 PVC) and related appurtenances, mag meter and pressure reducing solenoid valve with vault, school meter vault fireflow bypass, and bored river crossings water line (Class 350 DIP) replacement.

The Town of Richlands (Owner) invites interested contractors to submit prequalification proposals for construction of the Richlands Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project, pursuant to Section 2.2-4317 of the Code of Virginia.
Project Description: The proposed project is a rehabilitation of the existing 4.0 MGD rated plant with no increase in treatment capacity. Much of the WWTP equipment has remained in operation beyond its expected service life. Except for one raw sewage influent pump and the rehabilitated mechanical screen, the mechanical equipment at the plant is all still “original” as of the 1993 upgrade, which means it has been operational for approximately twenty-six years. Replacement parts are no longer available for the UV equipment, and are difficult to find or must be custom made for many other plant facilities. The mechanical equipment, most notably the pumps, are worn and inefficient and in need of replacement. The rehabilitation will include replacement of much of the WWTP’s existing equipment, enabling the WWTP to sustainably meet VPDES permit requirements, especially the upcoming stringent ammonia discharge limits, and minimize
impact on the Clinch River.
