Alpha Building

T&L, in association with BurWil Construction, was commissioned to provide comprehensive Architectural, Engineering, and surveying services related to the design and construction of a new corporate headquarters for Alpha Natural Resources. The new headquarters is located in Bristol’s new Sugar Hollow Business Complex in Bristol, Virginia. The project was developed by Steve Johnson of Johnson Commerical Development.

A sampling of project highlights include the following:

  • New 5 story structure to maximize VUSBC, Type IIA construction;
  • Designed for future subdivision of floors for possible future tenants;
  • Tier III data center;
  • Emergency generators;
  • Fire command center;
  • Two tiered training theaters;
  • Helipad;
  • Cafeteria and wellness facilities;
  • Project achieve LEED Silver Designation from the Green Building Certification Institute; and
  • The project won the Associated Contractors of America Award for Architectural Project of the Year in 2011.
